My teenage son inhaled half the pan in minutes. Best part is it only takes 4 ingredients to throw together.

If you want to change things up without adding to your ingredient list, you can play with what you already have. Swap the ham for smoked turkey or leftover holiday ham for a slightly different flavor. Use any mild white cheese that melts well—mozzarella, Monterey Jack, or even a white cheddar all work. For a slightly lighter version, you can reduce the butter to 6 tablespoons and still get nicely golden tops. To prep ahead, assemble the sliders completely in the glass dish, cover tightly with foil, and refrigerate for up to 8 hours; when you’re ready to bake, set the dish on the counter while the oven heats, then bake as directed, adding a few extra minutes if needed. If your family likes a little crunch, leave them in the oven a couple of minutes longer after removing the foil so the tops get extra toasty. These also reheat well: cover the dish with foil and warm in a 300°F oven for 10–15 minutes, or pop individual sliders in the microwave for 15–20 seconds until just warm.
