🥘🥩 Layered Ground Beef Casserole – Hearty, Savory & Family-Style Comfort! 🥔🧀
Ingredients:
1.5 lbs ground beef
4 large Russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom (or cream of celery) soup
1/2 cup milk
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dried thyme
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
The Prep: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
The Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with half of the onion until cooked through. Drain any excess grease and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and thyme.
The Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the cream soup and milk until smooth.
The Layers: Arrange half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the dish. Layer the beef mixture over the potatoes, followed by the remaining sliced onions and another layer of potatoes.
The Finish: Pour the cream sauce evenly over the top layer of potatoes. Cover the dish tightly with foil.
The Bake: Bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil, sprinkle with the shredded cheese, and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbling and golden-brown.
Serve:
Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing to allow the layers to set. Serve warm and enjoy this ultimate comfort meal!
