FUDGY CHOCOLATE BROWNIES

  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter

  • 8 oz (226g) bittersweet chocolate (60-70% cacao), finely chopped

  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

  • 1/4 cup (50g) light brown sugar, packed

  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 3/4 cup (90g) all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup (25g) unsweetened Dutch-process cocoa powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • (Optional) 1/2 cup chocolate chips or walnut pieces


Equipment

  • 8×8-inch metal baking pan

  • Medium heatproof bowl

  • Small saucepan (for double boiler) or microwave
