First start by preparing your baking area. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Line a baking tray with baking paper or lightly grease it with butter. This step helps the cookies come off easily after baking.
Take a large mixing bowl. Add the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar into the bowl. Use a spoon or whisk to mix everything together. Keep mixing until the mixture looks smooth and creamy. This step is important because it helps the cookies become soft and flavorful.
Next add the egg into the bowl. Mix it well with the sugar and butter mixture. Stir until the egg is fully combined. After that add the vanilla extract. Vanilla adds a sweet and warm flavor that makes the cookies smell amazing.

Now add the dry ingredients. Put the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon into the same bowl. Slowly mix everything together using a spoon or spatula. Continue mixing until the batter becomes thick and smooth.
After that add the rolled oats. Stir the oats into the mixture until they are evenly spread through the dough. Oats give the cookies their special texture and hearty feel.
If you want extra flavor you can add chocolate chips or raisins at this stage. Mix them gently so they spread throughout the dough.
Add the milk to the dough and stir again. The milk helps soften the mixture and makes the cookies moist when baked.
Once your cookie dough is ready, take a spoon and scoop small portions of dough. Place them on the prepared baking tray. Leave some space between each cookie because they will spread while baking.
Press each cookie slightly with the back of the spoon to flatten them a little. This helps them bake evenly.
Place the tray in the preheated oven. Bake the cookies for about 10 to 12 minutes. The edges should turn light golden while the center stays soft.
When the cookies are done, remove the tray from the oven and let the cookies cool for about 5 minutes. Then move them to a cooling rack or plate. This helps them set properly.
After they cool down, your delicious oatmeal cookies are ready to enjoy.
