Delicious Brown Sugar Chops

  • 4 thick 1-inch pork chops
  • 4 tbsp brown sugar, packed
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (or to taste)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or other high-heat cooking oil (for searing)
