Banana Chocolate Cottage Cheese Breakfast Crostata
I baked this when I wanted something warm, rustic, and pretty enough to set right on the table instead of another loaf or pastry strip. Banana keeps the center soft, cottage cheese makes it creamy without feeling heavy, and the chocolate melts into sweet little pockets through the filling. It feels cozy, simple, and so lovely sliced while still just a little warm.
Ingredients:
1 sheet pie dough
1 ripe banana, mashed
1/2 cup cottage cheese
2 tbsp honey
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp flour
1/3 cup chocolate chips
1 egg
Methods:
Heat oven to 400 F and line a tray.
Mix banana, cottage cheese, honey, vanilla, and flour until thick and creamy.
Fold in chocolate chips so they stay dotted through the filling.
Roll the dough into a rough circle and place it on the tray.
Spoon the filling into the center, leaving a border around the edge.
Fold the edges inward loosely to frame the filling in a rustic ring.
Brush the crust with beaten egg and bake 18 to 22 minutes until deeply golden.
Cool 5 minutes before slicing and serving warm.
